Modern humans and
their direct extinct ancestors. Homo sapiens is the only species in the
genus Homo of the family Hominidae that is living today, and extinct
populations Homo--H. erectus and H. habilis and A. africanus,
A. robustus, A. boisei, and A. afarensis- of ancestral to man are
known only from fossil bones and teeth.
