Renowned for the "discovery" of the rhetorical
situation according to Bitzer's article in Philosophy and Rhetoric, the
first volume, the first issue, the first article, it consists of three elements:
The Exigence: an imperfection marked by urgency
The Rhetorical Audience: an audience are people who can
act, mediators of change
Constraints: persons, events, objects and relations that
have power to constrain the decision and action needed to modify the
exigence.
